New Window Coverings From Budget Blinds Are an Easy Upgrade

Spending so much time in our homes over the past year has encouraged a lot of investment into our living spaces, according to Chloe Traviss, style consultant with Budget Blinds in Campbell River.

“Everybody is spending so much time in their homes right now,” she recently told the Campbell River Mirror. “So it’s becoming more and more important for them to make those spaces beautiful. With people travelling less and being home more, I’ve really noticed they seem to be upgrading their spaces at an even higher rate than they were before.”

And one of the easiest ways to upgrade your space is with new window coverings.

“Window coverings are also one of the only options you have when improving your interior space that also improves your home’s curb appeal,” Traviss says. “So it’s also a great investment in your home and people are really taking advantage of that.”

But “investment” doesn’t need to be a daunting word - even small improvements make a huge difference to the feel of your room, Traviss says.

“A lot of people just want to do a little something in their home,” she says, “and we really have products for all budgets.”

Not only that, but she’ll bring them to you so you don’t even have to go to the store to check them out. While Budget Blinds’ physical store is on Kilpatrick Avenue in Courtenay, Traviss is a mobile window covering resource for the North Island.

“I have everything in my vehicle to do free in-home consultations, measure all their windows, and discuss blinds options with samples that I can show them inside their home, which is huge, because everyone’s paint and views and light is different, so blinds can look completely different in one home versus another, or in our showroom.”

Traviss says that’s another thing she’s seeing these days: Supporting local and getting a personalized level of service has seemingly never been more important to people. While Budget Blinds has alwasy provided high levels of service, they’re also now focussed on keeping their staff and customers safe with Covid-19 protocols in place.

Holiday Lights Show Brightens Up the Season at The Ridge in Courtenay

Residents of The Ridge in Courtenay are eager to share why they love living at The Ridge. The sense of community is important in this new Courtenay neighbourhood, and this sense of community was very strong over the holiday season.

When winter nights were dark and gloomy at the end of a challenging year, residents of The Ridge did their best to brighten the spirits of their neighbours and light up the neighbourhood. Christmas lights and decorations were on full display throughout the community. Residents at The Ridge went above and beyond and created a festive Christmas atmosphere.

The first of what will become and annual Christmas decorating contest was born when a few residents banded together to acknowledge the neighbours who put extra effort into decorateing their homes for the holiday season. A few residents were surprised when they received acknowledgment of their efforts in the firstsurprise Christmas contest held at The Ridge.

The residents from these homes were surprised and happy to receive a small gift towards their efforts, as no official Christmas Lighting Contest had been declared. Now it is official! There will be annual lighting contests moving forward at The Ridge. It is an event that will bring out a friendly competition amongst the residents for years to come and promotes the community for everyone to enjoy.

Establishing this neighbourhood contest, inspired by the actions of others in their community, is one of the many reasons The Ridge is such a welcoming place to call home.

In the summer the community hosts an annual block party in the park, and on a daily basis friends and neighbours stop to chat, go for walks, play in the park, and enjoy the neighbourhood and the people in it.

If you’re ready to make the move to a friendly, welcoming Courtenay community, visit TheRidgeBC.com and learn more about lots now available in Phase 3B and the preferred builders working at The Ridge.

Could a New Home at The Ridge be the Perfect Christmas Gift?

Developers and builders at The Ridge in Courtenay have noticed a trend of more and more people are relocating to the Comox Valley from lagrer urban centres. Familes and retirees are moving to enjoy the small-city charm, while still having access to all of the important amenities - including a new hospital, North Island College, a variety of shopping venues and the Comox Valley Airport.

The Comox Valley on Vancouver Island is considered one of the most desirable places in Canada to live due to its close proximity to the ocean and many beaches, its mild climate and limitless year-round recreational options, all of which are available just a short walk, pedal or drive away. The Ridge is located in Courtenay, which is well known for having some of the warmest and most temperate weather in Canada. As a result, the area enjoys warm, dry summers and experiences mild, rainy winters with little to no snow.

Real estate activity has been brisk on Vancouver Island for several months, with the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board reporting that sales of single-family homes increased in November 2020 by 33 per cent over November 2019. Rising home sales are due to a combination of factors, including extremely low interest rates, a lack of inventory and the lifestyle trend of families working and studying from home.

The builders at The Ridge know that people are thinking ahead to next year, and considering the move to a new home, or even a new community for the Christmas season in 2021.

Now is the perfect time to consider building a new custom home at The Ridge. Developers have just released 61 new lots in Phase 3B that are available through their preferred builders. Take a tour of this phase via aerial video and you can see the stunning ocean views from The Ridge.

Outdoor Adventures Are Calling in the Comox Valley

Vancouver Island is well known for having some of the warmest and most temperate weather in Canada, making it a popular place to call home. Coastal communities such as Courtenay enjoy warm dry summers and mild winters sprinkled with rain and the occasional day or two of snow.

The Comox Valley, which includes the city of Courtenay, town of Comox, the village of Cumberland, and a number of unincorporated communities, is easily one of the most desirable places to live in Canada. This Vancouver Island coastal community offers easy access to a huge range of year-round outdoor recreational activities.

The weather is mild enough to go surfing and kite boarding year-round. In the winter months, when a storm rolls onto Vancouver Island, the biggest swells are active, prompting surfers and boarders to put on their wetsuits and head to the nearest beach.

If you are a diving enthusiast, explore the rocky reef at Flora Inlet on the edge of Hornby Island where you might spot the elusive Six-gill Shark between April and September. You can also take a dive at the Royston Wrecks, a man-made breakwater of sunken ships along the shoreline where water visibility is excellent. For a unique underwater adventure, snorkel with the salmon in local streams and rivers.

With the right outdoor gear, you can do pretty much any activity in the winter in the Comox Valley. For instance, the golf courses are open year round and you can play golf at seven public courses almost any day of the year. Many people have relocated to the Comox Valley because of their love for mountain biking. Here you will find hundreds of trails, from beginner to advanced in Cumberland, Mount Washington, Forbidden Plateau and other areas throughout the Valley. The region is a hotspot with many mountain bikers coming from other provinces and countries to compete!
