Peter Crawford, Director of Planning Services, stated that the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island had been issued a construction value totalling $16 million worth of building permits in the first three months of 2010. The figures display significant construction as opposed to the first quarter of 2009, wherein building permits amounted to a total of $3 million.
Included in the Comox Valley real estate development, is a two-phase residential development on Arden Road in Courtenay on Vancouver Island that combined, would account for 150 new Vancouver Island homes; a restaurant and residential development proposal near the Holiday Inn Express on Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay and at least 18 new Vancouver Island homes at Crown Isle Resort & Golf Community.
